Personal Profile
Dr McCreery graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1986 and
first trained in Internal Medicine and became a Member of The Royal
College of Physicians in Ireland (MRCPI). She then did an Ophthalmology
Residency in The Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, Dublin and in
Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA.
Dr McCreery attained the degrees FRCSI (Fellow of the Royal College of
Surgeons in Ophthalmic Surgery), FRCOphth (Fellow of the Royal College
of Ophthalmologists UK) and also became Board Certified in
Ophthalmology, the qualifying exam of the American Board of
Ophthalmology.
She did a fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at The
University of Pittsburgh/ Children’s’ Hospital of Pittsburgh,
Pittsburgh, USA.
Following her training she was a Consultant Ophthalmologist/Assistant
Professor at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s’ Hospital for
three years prior to her return to Dublin in 2002. She is now a
Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin
and at Blackrock Clinic, Dublin. Dr McCreery has been a Consultant
Ophthalmic Surgeon for 16 years. Her areas of interest are refractive /
cataract surgery and paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Dr McCreery has published more than 70 articles in peer reviewed Ophthalmic journals, authored 5 book chapters and has made countless presentations at national and international Ophthalmic meetings. She was awarded the
Schindler Award in 1999 which is presented to the resident who exhibits high moral standards and compassion in patient care. from the Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine< Houston, TX and the . Dan B. Jones Teaching Award in 2002 which is awarded annually by the Ophthalmology Residents at Baylor College of Medicine for her dedication to resident teaching.
She was also nominated SOE Lecturer 2006.European Society of Ophthalmology.
She is
married with 3 children.
